Although they vary in size, most bakeries sell similar products, which means we can always find the perfect cash register for all types of bakeries.

Casio SE-C450

The Casio SE-C450 features 72 programmable buttons, which means you will be getting accurate management reports from the machine to be able make decisions on what items are selling well or not so well. Although it has a slightly smaller footprint than the Casio Se-C450, the cash drawer is deeper and it still features an 8 coin and 4 note compartment tray, but the layout of the notes is slightly different – 3 flat and 2 sideways.

This cash register is an extremely robust double-till roll machine, ideal for the busy bakery that offers a smaller range of products, or a business not needing to monitor products are being sold so closely.

The Sam4s – 520 features a full size cash drawer with nice big coin compartments.

Like other tills with raised keys, we do recommend keyboard covers to help prevent damage on the till and helps with hygiene as they can be removed and washed / sprayed in antibacterial solution.

Casio SE-S100

This a a fairly robust machine – ideal in it has a full size cash drawer, allowing for all UK coin denominations.

We do recommend a keyboard wet-cover to help prevent damage from crumbs etc… The wet-cover can be taken off and washed in warm water, which keeps the till hygienic within the food environment.

This till is perfect for the smaller village bakery as it can cope with around 100 customers a day.

One aspect you may want to consider for that personalised tough is that this machine comes in a variety of colours: Red, black, silver and gold.

This till features 12 department buttons, which means you have some information about what you are selling.

Olivetti ECR 7100

This cash cheap and cheerful cash register is one of our best sellers – both small and compact, it is ideal for the smaller bakery.

Because it’s not designed for a large and busy bakery, it is perfectly suited to smaller outfits selling the likes of bespoke cakes or higher priced fare. That said, this till will cope with a bakery serving around 50 customers a day.

One aspect to consider is that it does have a small cash drawer, so can only take a small amount of coins.

The Casio SE-S400 is a cash register perfect for businesses that don’t require an expensive and complicated EPOS system. It works really well in shops, from clothing stores to chemists. For under £200, you can choose the Casio SE-S400 barcode scanner package, geared towards making transactions and stock control that much easier.

Because the Casio SE-S400 features a barcode scanner connection, this cash register can scan barcodes and save the data to an SD card, which can be used in conjunction with Microsoft Excel on a PC. This allows for spread sheets (see below) and the management of stock and sales figures.

The receipt can be customised to print out the department key names i.e. Childrens, Adults, Books, Clothing… There are also 12 lines of available text (up to 24 characters per line including spaces) to enter a message, including details such as business name, address, phone number and VAT no. The Casio SE-S400 pictured above is a great all rounder till, one we have posted about before. Because it features PC connectivity via SD Card and can also connect to a barcode scanner, it earns the crown as best all rounder.

2. Olivetti 7700 Eco

The Olivetti ECR 7700 Eco pictured above is one of the most durable and easiest machines to program – Olivetti’s manuals are very easy to read.

3. Sam4S ER-230

This portable cash register is perfect for market stalls and pop-up shops. The Sam4S ER-230’s  rechargeable battery offers up to 8-hours working time from a single charge – ideal if you have a mobile shop.

4. Olivetti ECR 7700

The Casio SE-S10 cash register is similar to its smaller counterpart, the Casio SE-G1, a till liked by the smaller businesses that don’t see big number transactions every day. Although the smaller version is enough for many, the Casio SE-S10 offers more useful features.

The Casio SE-S10 has the ability to save receipt paper in that it features a function allowing you turn off the thermal receipt printer. When you do need to change the receipt paper roll you simply lift the arm labelled “PUSH HERE”, drop in the paper roll, pull the paper over the teeth and push the arm into place.

Thermal (heat activated) paper means no messy ink cartridges or expensive refills. The Casio SE-S10 paper rolls required come in two sizes: 57-mm x 50-mm or 57-mm x 30-mm and can be purchased on our Paper Rolls page.

Where the Casio SE-G1 only features 3 note and four coin compartments, the Casio SE-S10 has 4 note (£5, £10, £20 and £50) and 8 coin (1p, 2p, 5p. 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2), meaning there’s no need to mix coins or notes.

Although it does feature a full-size drawer, the Casio SE-S10 isn’t a massive machine, so it’s still a good choice if space is a concern. Its width is 410-mm, its height 204-mm, and length 450-mm. Its height includes the four rubber feet the cash till sits upon, preventing any slippage and allowing it to be placed on glass surfaces.

The cash drawer is made from steel and is weighty and secure. If you have to leave the till unattended for any length of time, the drawer can be locked by key. The Casio SE-S10 comes with 2 different operating keys (OP & PGM) and 2 keys for the cash drawer lock. The OP key would usually be given to an employee as it only allows the user to run the till in REG (register) mode and to switch the till off. The business owner would use the PGM key as it allows access to all of the modes. You can see how lost cash register keys can cause a headache.

The Casio SE-S10 keyboard is a simple layout, with all departments and functions easily recognisable. The only drawback with its raised keys is if the cash register is being used within a food/drink environment – if moisture/food gets in-between the gaps and into the machine, it could permanently damage the cash register.
